Re: East and South Asia trade talks
The Dutch delegation agrees to the Treaty of Lorient and encourages other nations, particularly the Ottomans and Danes, to sign on as well.

Re: East and South Asia trade talks
Denmark signs the treaty in order to safeguard its interests in India, but notes that no real delineation of what the "spheres of influence" entail has taken place. However, a guarantee to not attack existing trade posts is better than nothing.
Portugal's minister to France (who, of course, refused to attend the proceedings but conveniently stuck around in Lorient) notes to all who ask that while the signatories may not interfere with each other, the only opinion that matters is that of the Emperor of the Celestial Kingdom, who has shown that his favor clearly stands with Portugal. Thus, Portugal (and Spain, for that matter) do not need the guarantees of the treaty to safeguard their interests in China, and the Portuguese emphatically encourage Spain not to sign the treaty and grant legitimacy to outsiders seeking to muscle in on the Oriental Trade.

France suggests to Denmark, the Netherlands and the Ottoman Empire that they draw up a map for further discussion
Portugal (and by extension Spain) are warned that signatory or not, interference with the China trade by non signatory nations from Europe will not be tolerated.
Re: East and South Asia trade talks
After a small amount of grumbling, the Dutch delegation offers to respect existing Danish relations and trade posts in Tanjore land, and to view the Calicut region as within the Danish “sphere of influence”.
Similarly, the Netherlands will respect the territory to the west of the Dutch outposts at Damman and Diu as within the Ottoman sphere.

Ottoman Envoy ask for clarification on the stance for Bengal Delta region, considering the Ottomans have a trading post in the region.

Re: East and South Asia trade talks
After awkwardly apologizing for such an obvious oversight, the Ottomans are informed that the Netherlands will respect the Mughal Bengal coast as within Ottoman influence, along with all Mughal land.
The rest of India should be within a Dutch zone.

As an added clarification, though not part of India, the Netherlands considers land east of the Mughal border (Burma, etc) as within the Dutch sphere.

The Ottomans accept these terms.

The Commonwealth representatives indicate that they will not be signing onto the treaty, mostly because they have no areas of interest or spheres of influence in the Far East currently.

Denmark angrily retorts that it has no interest in ceding trade rights to the entirety of the Mughal Empire, and Bengal in particular, to the Ottomans and the Dutch. Denmark's trading post at Serampore entitles it to as much a share of "influence" over the region as the Ottoman post in the same region. The Turk's affinity for his Heathen brethren should not grant him a greater slice by writ of some bespectacled Hollander clerk. Denmark will renounce its signature of the treaty unless its rights in Bengal are assured.

The Ottomans state they are willing to share influence in Bengal region and have no interest in locking out the Danes from the area.

Having now committed two embarrassing oversights, the Danes are hastily told the Netherlands is open to the Ottoman proposal to share influence within the stated area.

The French Foreign Minister, who is overseeing talks, asks if the English would be willing to sign the first, second and fourth provisions of the treaty (mariner clause, mutual protection from hostile natives and promises not to interfere with each others China trade)

The Commonwealth is willing to assist mariners in distress and will pledge to protect against hostile natives; however, they again demure on binding themselves to any sphere of influence or interference clause.
