Fall/Winter 1729/1730

Envoys are received in Nizhny Novgorod. They are given a reception as warm as the Russian winter, and are thoroughly searched for weapons, poison, and any other nefarious ways that the Khagan might seek to kill the Polish General staff. The smell of death still permeates over the city after the condition in which it was left.

Once the safety of General Maurice is ensured, the Wettin army begins laying out a framework for a truce. The Poles present a truce border that extends along the Volga river, from where the Volga meets the Sheksna tributary in the North where it meets the Swedish-occupied territory, to the Volga-Don portage in the South following the Don until it reaches the Lands of the Cossacks. The Poles also insist on the right of Orthodox priests in the Khagan's lands to be able to safely flee to Muscovy and compensation to the families of the Polish emissaries flayed alive in Tver.
